Woodio was founded in Finland in 2015 from an idea that at first seemed impossible: bathroom fixtures made of wood. Founder Petro Lahtinen and his team developed the world's first fully waterproof, solid wood composite — a biomaterial made of 99.9% wood chips that combines the warmth of wood with the durability a bathroom demands.
From baths and basins to toilets and tiles: every product is cast solid in Finland, produced carbon negative and designed to last generations.
Woodio brought the warmth of wood into spaces usually dominated by ceramic, stone and composite. Its brand world feels soft, clear and technically precise: Scandinavian in form, innovative in material and calm in expression.

We are here to make a difference.
The ceramics industry is one of the most polluting in the world. Woodio's material innovation grew from the question of whether it could be done differently — with the warmth of wood and the durability a bathroom demands. Four qualities carry the brand.
Sustainable material
The world's first solid wood composite, fully waterproof and made of real wood chips. The basin has a GWP 80% lower than a ceramic basin of comparable size.
Lightweight
Solid wood composite is considerably lighter than traditional bathroom materials, saving on transport, installation and logistics emissions.
Impact resistant
The material is significantly more impact resistant than most bathroom materials, making it practically unbreakable in normal use.
Maintenance free
Woodio basins need no special maintenance. A damp cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleaner are enough.

- A patented composite of wood chips and bio-based resins — around 80% locally produced wood.

- Manufactured in Woodio's own factory in Finland with a near CO₂-neutral process and patented casting technology.

- Maintenance free, waterproof and with a lifespan at least equal to traditional bathroom materials.
- Disposal
- At end of life the products act as carbon storage and can be incinerated for energy. No landfill waste.

In Finland the old timber industry meets research and innovation. Woodio is built on that heritage and on a constant curiosity to do more with what already exists. Products are designed and produced in its own factory in Helsinki and carry the Key Flag symbol and the Design from Finland mark — a sign of Finnish work, design and craftsmanship.
