Woodio is a Finnish eco-design and material technology company. Our signature material is the world’s first 100% waterproof solid wood composite with a minimal carbon footprint. Our solid wood composite products are lightweight compared to traditional bathroom products. This helps us reduce emissions also in logistics.

Woodio solid wood composite material is far more impact resistant than most bathroom materials, making it practically unbreakable in normal use.

maintenance free

Woodio washbasins are maintenance free and easy to keep clean. When necessary, just use a dampened soft cloth and mild non-abrasive dish detergent or soap for cleaning.

We are here to make a difference.

The ceramic industry is among the most polluting industries globally, so we realized that the bathroom industry has lot to improve. Our Woodio material innovation was inspired by an idea of making more sustainable wooden bathroom tiles. At first, this seemed impossible and extremely challenging, but it was a mountain our team was ready to conquer. And we're so glad we did, because a new material was born! Our role as an eco-design company is to raise discussion around topics that have an impact on the well-being of our Earth. As a brand we want to offer a solution that is less of a burden to the environment and change the way the world thinks about bathrooms.

our core

A sustainable choice.

The way we see the world is that the transition towards circular economy and design is a must. We all have to start making sustainable choices, whatever we do. We are constantly exploring and developing our material. Our development efforts focus on biobased and recycled raw materials. In order to make a change, we are now faced with the challenge to research and reinvent materials and also investigate how we can reuse them several times over, while making them long lasting and creating minimal waste.

Sustainable choices throughout the whole production process - from the material itself to manufacturing, long-term use and disposal. We want to combine the advantages of commonly known bathroom materials, while offering a solution to their issues.

Material

Our patent pending wood material technology is an innovative combination of wood and resin based adhesives. Approximately 80% of the product content is locally sourced wood.

Manufacturing

Our products are manufactured in Finland at Woodio’s own factory with a close to carbon neutral manufacturing process. Our patent pending cast moulding technology does not require high amounts of water and energy, or high-temperature ovens to make the final product. This is why carbon footprint is a lot lower than bathroom materials traditionally have. The CO2 emissions per unit are about 80% less when with a similar sized ceramic basin.

Long-term use

Woodio material is far more impact resistant than many other bathoom materials, making it practically unbreakable in normal use. It is maintenance free and the expected life time is the same as with any traditional bathroom materials – or even longer.

Disposal

Woodio products serve as a CO2 storage, and they can be burned as energy when they have come to the end of their lifecycle. No landfill waste.

Made in Finland

In Finland the old wood industry meets research and innovation. Woodio is built on this heritage and constant curiosity of doing more with what we already have. Woodio products are designed and manufactured in Finland at our own factory in Helsinki. The Association for Finnish Work has awarded all Woodio products the Key Flag symbol in recognition of products made in Finland. We have also been awarded the Design from Finland mark that is awarded to companies that have demonstrably invested in Finnish design. We are proud to carry these awards as a symbol of Finnish work, design and craftmanship.
